How to make dvd+r compatible with player?

How can I make my DVD-R disk or DVD+R (I have both), play in my DVD player?

  • I have made a video on Windows Media Player and I put in my DVD+R disk and clicked, burn. It did, and I ejected it and when I put it in my DVD player it said 'unknown disc'. I did the same thing with the DVD-R disc and it said 'unknown disc' as well. How can i fix this? Do I have to format it? Thanks. (:

    Before you spend any money as suggested here, do this: Put your burnt DVD on your DVD drive in your computer. Explore the DVD. See what the names of the files are. if it is filename.mpg or filename.wmv, then you have to change your burning software. Use Nero or NTI instead of media player. If you see a folder called VIDEO_TS in which files like AVSEQ01.VOB etc, are present,(d then there is no problem with DVD (does not matter if it is +R or -R, but -R is more accepted) and it is a problem with your player.

Buy a philips dvd/DIVX player from Target or Walmart for $45. It will play everything, even downloaded videos from the internet burnt onto a disc as a "data cd" Make sure you get the "upconverter" version if you have a HD-TV already. I own 3 of them, BY FAR the BEST bang for the buck!!! Trust me. And you won't have issues like you're having now.

its not the right format... windows burns in mov i think most players cannot read that you need to convert to mpg

It is likely that your DVD player is not capable of recognizing the DVD+R/-R discs. You will need a player that plays back those formats. Check with your local electronics retailer. Most manufacturers will list format compatibility in the product specs and on the box. www.axxisaudioinc.com
