Universal remote codes?

I need a good universal remote and the codes for my tv, dvd player and receiver?

  • I have an RCA Universal remote, but i am planning on picking up a new universal remote that has more functionality within the next few days. I need it to control the following: My Pioneer Receiver (Pioneer VSX-406) Dvd/VCR Combo (Panasonic PV-D47320) TV (RCA TruFlat 27F650T) Any suggestions as to remotes would be great, and i need the codes to control those devices. Thanks a bunch!

  • Answer:

I prefer the Sony universal RM-AX4000. It accepts the codes manually or will "learn" from an existing remote and can be programmed from your PC which will store your configuration. -The IR code for Pioneers receivers are 4006, 4018, 4032, 4072, 4081, 4085, and 4090. -The IR codes for Panasonic DVD combo units are 0405, 0406, or 0407. -The IR codes for RCA TVs, (These are the same as RCA/Proscan), are 8002, 8003, 8004, 8005, 8006, 8007, 8008, 8044, 8045, 8046, or 8053

So what additional functionality did you want? Doesn't do any good to ask for help if you don't indicate what features you are looking for - I mean I could recommend the large H shaped remote with big buttons sold for poorly sighted people, but you might want to haul the notebook sized device around :-)

Any current remote will work (should)..The codes are on the packaging and you can check to see if your devices are listed. Also if it doesnt, take it back!

I agree with mike, what are you looking for? your receivers remote should be programmable and be up to the task for all your devices, especially if the task is simply your DVD and TV, My receiver remote runs 5 components and that's a stock 8 year old remote... I recommend downloading your receiver's manual, grabbing the codes and working from there. There are nicer/pricier remotes out there but for running this few components it's hardly necessary. Don't under estimate your receivers remote, they're made to do this job, truly!

Look into the Logitech Harmony remotes. These things are programmed from the internet using a USB cable and the website lists receivers and equipment by name and model numbers, not 'codes'. Some of them have dedicated PVR buttons which most generic remotes do not.
