How to set up HDMI on PS3?

Can someone tell me how to set up the sound of the PS3 if I use the HDMI cable?

• the audio and video works when the PS3 is hooked up to the TV, but the TV's audio is connected to the reciever thru a optical audio ouput, the audio is coming out of the TV from the PS3 but not the audio from the TV to the reciever, so is there a setting on the PS3 so the audio on the TV coming from the PS3 that is hooked up thru HDMI come out of the reciever?

  If your TV has an optical out, your receiver should be getting the audio signal from the PS3. You may need to turn this on in the TV's settings (usually this turns off the TV's speakers as well.) Otherwise, you can just connect the optical audio cable to your PS3 and connect that directly to your receiver. So you'll have 2 cables coming out - HDMI and the optical cable. Even though you're technically sending the sound to 2 different devices, that's OK. You'll get sound out of both of your TV and receiver's speakers.
