PS3 HDMI SoUND NOT WORKING?!?!?

I bought a ps3 hdmi cable(the offical ps3 brand one that comes with a 2.0 usb cable) and when i used it it looks great so i booted up a game and the sound from it isn't working. I've tried pretty much everything. i've made sure that my tv is on hdmi setting the sound is on hdmi setting and that the picture is on hdmi setting but the sound from the ps3 dosent work. I've reset the system, pluged and upluged everything and still no sound. I phoned bestbuy and they said it WAS NOT a faulty wire because if it was the picture wouldnt be hdmi and he also says many people have this problem but nobodys know why. so what im getting at is can you help me get sound on my tv??thanks in advance

Answer:
Try turning on your PS3 with the TV off. Load the game and then turn on the TV. Sometimes HDMI needs that extra help to sinc correctly.

Have you gone to the audio settings on your PS3 and made sure audio is set to output via HDMI?
