3d ready dlp projector connections?
-
Hello, i have a 3d blu-ray player connected by hdmi (1.4?) to an optoma 3dxl box (3d projector adaptor) the adaptor (3dxl) only has an hdmi output to the projector, which is an acer x110p 3d ready dlp projector. But this projector only has a d-sub (15 pin male vga) an s-video and a composite input. I have bought an hdmi to vga cable but when it didnt work i researched and find i need an adaptor to make it work?? all i want to do is connect my 3d ready projector to the 3d adaptor box bought specifically to make the bloomin projector play 3d as designed . i really dont know where to look or what i need, any help is much appreciated, this is hubby's xmas present and im about to present him with a bald wife for xmas instead if i cant figure this out..................

Answer:
There are some new projectors that natively support HDMI 1.4a 3D. That is the 3D format that the PS3 outputs, so no converter would be needed with those models. And for some older 3D projectors that don't support HDMI 1.4a 3D, they might be made to work with it when an Optoma 3D-XL converter is used. But those projectors need to at least have an HDMI input to start with. Unfortunately, your projector does not have an HDMI port. And if it did, that would still not guarantee that it could display 3D from an Optoma converter. HDMI can not be easily or cheaply converted to VGA, because one is a digital signal and the other is analog. And forget about trying to do that with 3D video, its just another complication for a converter and I have not heard of any such conversion device. So your projector can only display 3D from a PC with an Nvidia 3D Vision card installed, and never from a PS3. This website lists 3D compatible projectors: http://www.3dmovielist.com/projectors.html . You can see that some newer projectors sold in the UK can support HDMI 1.4a 3D with the Optoma converter. Or return the converter and get a projector that has native support for HDMI 1.4a 3D. Projectors with native support will most likely give you a better picture, because that technology supports higher resolutions than what the converter creates.
