Why is my VGA component not working?

Component VIDEO TO VGA?

  • Hello, i have a sony blu-ray player(model BDP-S360) which has HDMI,component and composite video outputs. I want to connect it to my projector(model Epson powerlight 83+) which only has VGA and composite video inputs. I have tried a HDMI to VGA cable but that does not work at all. I want to try a Component video to VGA cable. That will use the component video output from the blu-ray and connect it to the VGA input on the projector. Will this work? I was going to buy this one (http://www.buy.com/prod/gefen-vga-to-component-video-cable-hd-15-male-rca-male-6ft-gefen-vga/q/loc/111/202749719.html) please help me, i would like to order this soon

  • Answer:

you have a presentation projector, not a home theater projector, there for you have no component connection on it. It is made for computer presentaion purposes. If you want to use it on your tv, save yourself some money and headaches and just use the composite conections. You will not get high def. A component cable splits the three colors for optimal analog resolution (1080i), do not put the colors back together before they get to your projector. It will accomplish the same signal as a composite connection. Are you understanding what I am saying? It is just a waste of money.
