Western digital tv media player?

Do I need a HDMI Cable for Western Digital WD TV Live Plus 1080p HD Media Player?

  • I brought a Western Digital WD TV Live Plus 1080p HD Media Player and my TV doesn't have HDMI but WD TV has Composite Cables (red, yellow, white) Can I just use those because my TV has composite cables....should that do the job?

  • Answer:

That will work but the yellow cable is called "Composite" and is the worst type of video connection and is only standard def. Why does your TV not have either a DVI or HDMI jack?

You will need to go to the video settings to change the output from pal to ntsc, otherwise you won't have a usable picture for composite or component, unless of course your tv uses pal. To do so, you will need to plug the media player into a tv via hdmi, change that setting, then you will be good to go. At least that's how mine was. I use mine everyday, it plays every type of file I've tried so far. Good luck with it.
