Why won't my blu-ray player turn on?

Problems with new Vizio Blu ray player! Please help!?

• For Christmas, my family got a Vizio Blu ray player. Yesterday, we got it hooked up to our Sharp TV. We started playing a blu ray disc in the player, and everything was working fine. But today it is not working. When I turn the blu ray player on, the TV starts flashing the Blu ray home screen, but won't stay on. I think the blu ray player is working fine, because it turns on and i can put in discs and everything. The screen just keeps flashing. I was thinking it might be something with our HDMI cable, but I'm not an expert on TVs. It is a GE HDMI cable from Walmart. And like I said, it was working fine and playing movies yesterday. Does anyone know what the problem is, and how to fix it? Thank you.

  First I would check if the TV is still on the correct HDMI input. If it is then I would unplug the HDMI cable from both ends and replug it. If the problem still exists after that I would use another HDMI input on the TV. If the problem is still there then I would replace the HDMI cable. If the problem is still there after that then there's an issue with the bluray player or the TV. To determine that you can hook up something else to the TV using a HDMI cable. If you have the same issue then it's the TV. If the issue goes away then it's the bluray.
