What outdoor speakers should I buy?

What speakers should I buy?

  • So I want to have a party at my house some time, but the current speakers in my basement are horrible, and there are only two of them, and they are attached to the ceiling so they aren't very big. I'm thinking of just buying some larger speakers to leave on the ground, or add a few more ceiling speakers. But I don't know what speakers to buy or what a right price would be, I really don't have any experience with speakers so any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry, but you give us no real information to help you. What is your budget? What model is your receiver or amplifier? What other equipment will be associated with your new purchase? What kind of music do you listen to? What is the room size & shape?

There are many things to consider when buying a speaker. Start with your budget you want to spend. The size of the area you want to place the speaker to will have an effect along with what system you are going to connect the speaker to. By staying with name brand speakers like: JBL, Energy, Infinity, Klipsch, Definitive Technology and Polk audio to name a few will assure you good quality sound. Demo them at your local retail store with your own source of music first and listening to one certain song of that cd on all speakers. Hope this will help you out.

What's your budget? What's the size of your room? What's the power output of the amp you have or want? You asked everything but left out the technical details. Try again!

It does not have any tone controls, but if your source does have an equalizer (such as an mp3 player) then you'll be fine, otherwise you might want to add an equalizer: http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=248-8118 A budget, as well as all the other things listed above would certainly help, but that is a very powerful party system on a pretty small budget.
