How to connect lg smart tv to components?

  • Smart LG tv so far here's what I've got HDMI1 to my Shaw PVR Cable TV from wall to PVR (rf in) HDMI2 from Blu Ray to TV TV only has optical digital audio out, my sony home theatre als has this digital optical out and i've connected those. i get a picture on my blu ray but no audio from the sound system only from the tv Do i need to connect RF out on the pvr to antenna cable in on the tv? Why am i not getting audio? Help pls if you can Shaw HD pvr 3d blu ray LG 47LW6500 smart tv Sony Home Theatre HT-DDW760 (about 8 years old, no HDMI) Thanks Chris

    You say you've connected your tv's optical digital out to the home theatre digital out? You can't have 2 outputs connected like that, the home theatre has to have dig. audio in. I just hooked up an LG tv to an older surround sound system last week. I had to take audio from the tv's audio output jack (the size of a headphone jack) & ran it into the AUX of the amp. You can buy a cable that has a 1/4 " jack on 1 end & it splits to 2 RCA cables (right & left). It's only about 3' long so you may need an extension as well. Now, whatever you play on your tv can be sent through your stereo system.
