How to record shows on comcast?

How can I hook up VCR with Comcast digital cable box to record shows on one channel while watching another?

  • I was forced to get a digital cable box as part of Comcast's upgrade process. Until now I had the cable out of the wall into a two way splitter, with a cable to the TV and a cable to the VCR. With this hookup I could record shows on one channel while watching another channel. I have been playing around trying to get the same recording ability with the digital cable box. I have not been successful. Is there a way to be able to use my VCR to record programs like I did before the digital cable box entering the equation? I know the VCR is old technology, but my machine works great and fits my recording needs. I really don't want to spend the money for a DVR now. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Answer:

Connect the coaxial cable from the cable box to your VCR and then with another coaxial cable connect one end from the VCR and the other end to the tv. If you have an HDMI cable connected from the cable box to the tv, then you don't need to connect the other coaxial cable from the VCR to the tv. You can also check you owners manual for the VCR or cable company. Hope this will help you out.
