I want a good 7.1 HD surround sound system without a Blu Ray player, Any Suggestions?

i bought a onkyo some time back and its just a receiver. it does support truhd dtshd. and they specialize in stereos you might want to check it out

The Harman Kardon AVR-254 is a great receiver. It supports all the formats, and has a great user interface, and many features. It will cost you around $400, then you will need speakers on top of that.

for just a reciever look at pioneer elite they have great ones top of the line but buy them on ebay.. the site sells it for like 4 thousand stores sell them for over 1 thousaand ebay for 800 somtimes im refering to the high end sc-05 model. there are better and lower end models also. for a full htib i would get a onkyo ht-9100 for $900 on ebay $1000 on amazon and stores. it does a great range of audio formats and is 7.1 and even has a mic to calibrate the settings for you.
