Is there a DVD recorder with HDMI in and out?

How can I connect an HD DVR, a DVD Recorder w/ HDMI output, and an HDTV?

  • The HD DVR and the DVD Recorder only have 1 HDMI port while the HDTV has 2. Should I run a component connection from the HD DVR to the DVD Recorder and then run an HDMI connection from the recorder to the HDTV? Also, Im not sure if this would work because it's an HDMI OUTPUT, but what about getting an HDMI splitter and connecting it to the DVD Recorder. Then I could connect the HD DVR to the DVD Recorder with an HDMI connection and connect the DVD Recorder to the TV w/ an HDMI connection.

  • Answer:

Your DVD recorder will not have a HDMI input because it is a protected source. This means you will not be able to record from a HDMI input. Just hook up the HDMI cables from both devices directly to the TV. If you want to record from satilite to the recorder your going to have to use S-video.
