How do I connect my home theater system to my computer?

Connect cable box to home theater system to connect to a computer monitor?

  • Can I do the following?: Have a cable (coaxial?), the type typical to go from a cable outlet to a cable box. Have this cable go to a Cox cable box (not HD Cable box). Have the cable out (again...coaxial?) go to a home theater receiver into a coaxial port. After this, have HDMI out go to a computer monitor with HDMI in. Essentially run a Cox cable box through a theater receiver, like the one linked below: http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-RX-V463BL-5-1-Channel-Theater-Receiver/dp/B0013ZGOXS

  • Answer:

hdmi FROM wat to the computer moniter?u said the cable box is not hd.anyway if i assume u talking about the cable box going hdmi to the moniter and coax to the receiver that may pose a clash since both coax and hdmi are designed to output sound and picture both.u can try it.but incase u run into quality problems forget about the hdmi and coaxial out.go rca audio 'out'(red and white)on the cable box to the audio 'in' on the home theater system.and go component 'out'(red blue and green) on the cable box to the component 'in' computer monitor P.S.: u may wana try audio out instead of coaxial out to the home theater system along with hdmi to the monitor.again it is most likely not to be compatible
