S/PDIF vs. Digital CoAx?
-
Can I hook up the S/PDIF output from my computer's sound card to my receiver's digital coax input? If yes can I use a digital coax cable to connect the two. If the S/PDIF is hooked up will my computer's speakers still get a signal from the standard green output?

Answer:
Yes, yes, and probably yes (depends on your sound card)

The answer is yes, assuming that the S/PDIF output is a coax as well and not an optical output. If it is indeed an optical output then it simply will not work without a converter (see the website in the reference section). If both are coax, then a coax cable will obviously connect the two. The S/PDIF is a monitor output, which means that if you were to connect your reciever to it, it would have no effect on your speakers receiving a signal. Good luck!
