What's an inexpensive wireless surround sound system?

Whats the best surround sound system for me?

  • i am looking for a 5.1 surround sound system. i will only use optical digital cable. i will use it for mostly watching bluray movies, and playing call of duty black ops on my 360. im looking for something under 500 but if its a little above its not that big of deal. i have plenty of space so its not that big of deal to me. umm, idk much more, im kinda new to this, so if u need further explanation just ask Thanks, Matt

If you have a Fry's Electronics in your area, I would check with them. They have HTiB, home theater in a box, that are pretty decent for the money. They regularly have Onkyo receivers with all the speakers that run around $500. I wouldn't do those that have the built in blu ray players since they don't usually have as many inputs in case you add onto your surround system.

I believe there are some good surround sound systems on the market, Sony and JVC make some decent 5.1 surround sound systems great for blu-rays and cod. Panasonic also have a 5.1 and 7.1 I think surround sound if u want the full surround sound experience. But it all comes down to personal taste I would recommend Sony they have a nice sound and great bass and are quiet cheap.

look for systems that have the receivers that only do sound, no built in DVD players. most of these types of receivers sit about 6 inches high and have a central display, sometimes knobs for volume or inputs. if you get one of these then you don't need the optical cable. you'll plug in the blu ray player, the xbox, (and cable box if any) right into the receiver, then send the video out to the TV using the HDMI "out" of the receiver. all of the audio drops off and the receiver sends the video to the TV. anyway, these are much better than typical samsung, sony, LG, or panasonic home theater in a box. often these types have proprietary parts. the kind mentioned above are more universal, which means that if you have a problem or something blows out, parts or speakers are more easily replaced. if you check out the best buy website theres a decent one from insignia, and yamaha makes one too, both under 500 dollars. you will then have a system that will last you many, many years. here are the sku numbers to look up when you go to the best buy site. 9833984 is the insignia (with a nice subwoofer) 9875451 is the yamaha
