What format is a DVD?

What DVD Format do I need to be able to make a movie and play it on DVD Players?

  • I have the program, but all the other DVD's I've tried (DVD-R, DVD-RAM), don't show up and aren't read. I'm thinking DVD+RW? Also, do I need to put my video in a certain format or something?

  • Answer:

You really should use DVD+R for that. The DVD-R were popular since those were out before the +R came but it wasn't really compatible with the player. Hence +R was released to be more compatible. +RW are aslo good but I would use +RW for testing purpose only then use +R for permanent burning.

You cannot copy movies because movies have a copy protection. You can use any format that you want, and you still can't copy the movie and make it work.
