Phillips Blu-Ray Player Sound Is Quiet?

Bluray player / surround sound help please...?

  • Hi everyone I need some help from someone please. I currently have an HD TV with 3 HDMI sockets and an LG HT554PH surround sound system that has an HDMI output socket, one optical in, aux input. I want to buy the Philips BDP5200/05 bluray player but Im not sure they will be compatible. The Philips bluray says it has Digital output (coaxial), stereo output but no analogue output. Im so confused- can anyone shed any light on this for me - I cant decipher the technological jargon. Thanks in advance :)

  • Answer:

You have to buy another Blu-ray player with optical output so that you can connect optical cable from Blu-ray player to sound system for surround sound.

Yes You can use that Philips model. I just checked there website and it says it has: Rear Connections: HDMI output, as well as the Co-axial you mentioned. You use HDMI from your TV to the Blu ray. Go for it it looks like a nice player!

Philips BDP5200/05 - Has all outputs LG HT554PH - All outputs apart from 1 input(Optical) which is for audio Wouldn't work, the blue-ray would have to connect straight to tv using HDMI.

Let me know the model of your TV or see if it has an optical out(which it proabbly does). Plug the bluray in an input on the TV. Plug an optical cable in the TV for the optical out. The other end of the optical cable will go in optical in on your LG system. Put your Tv on the hdmi input you pluged the bluray in. Then select the input for the optical in on the LG and that shoudl do it.
