Why won't my blu-ray player turn on?

LG BD610 Blu-ray/DVD Player makes high squeaking noise and won't turn on?

  • I won an LG Blu-ray player in a raffle and it worked for a while, but now as soon as I plug it in, it makes a very faint squeaking, almost chirping sound repeatedly. Moreover, the little screen that usually says “hello” when powered on is completely blank and the player will not start up. Is there anything I can do? What would cause this sound?
