What speakers should I get?
-
I have recently bought some Bose Companion 5 speakers for my bedroom and having heard them I think the sound is good but not sure if they are really worth the money. The speakers I had before were Logitech X-530's which I thought were excellent for the £50 I paid for them. The Bose are still with in their 30 day home trial period so I still have another 2 weeks to take them back if I don't like them. I have a fairly small room so I can't have anything too big and I also have neighbours so i need something that sounds good at low volumes but will be good when I occasionally crank it up. I don't really want to spend more than £300 (what I paid for the bose) but I am willing to push it to £400 if there was some kind of amazing offer. I primarily use my speakers with my ps3, macbook pro and occasionally my iPhone so I need some good connectivity, like optical, USB and 3.5mm jack I have looked at studio monitors but im just worried that there won't be enough connectivity and I'm a bit unsure about how the set them up properly. I mainly listen to Hip-hop, Electronic, dubstep so some good bass is needed but im also in search of quality when i want to listen to something acoustic Some speakers I have been looking at so far are: Logitech Z906 Logitech Z5500 Bowers & Wilkins MM-1 KRK Rokit 5 M-Audio AV40 Thank You and please help if you can

Answer:
I own a set of Bose Companion 5 speakers and I am satisfied with them. My music recordings are between 192kb to 256kb, the higher the recording the bigger slice of music enables a more full bodied sound. I paired them with Kicker 501 speakers streaming from my iMac. The sound is serious. I have to make sure the volume is balanced, but other than that I would recommend sticking with the Bose and adding the Kicker made by Stillwater. I have yet to hear a set of Logitech speakers I would buy. They have just not done anything for me. I listened to Bowers and Wilkins MM-1 at the Apple Store, I wouldn't buy them. I heard their big brother Bowers and Wilkin's Zepplin, I could stand for nothing less from B&W. I hear KRK Rokit 5's are good but they are studio speakers, meaning they will have a narrow and flat affect to the listener. The music will not flourish throughout the room, it will not dance lightly on its feet, it is more of a laser beam of pure sonic material pointed in a direction, that has been my experience with studio speakers. I am still itching to get a pair, of Wharfedale Diamond series speakers, if they are half as good as advertised, I will be there shortly. lol. M-Audio AV40 and Audioengine A5 ar worth a look. In both cases I am increasingly hearing from the newest owners of said brands, since they are self powered along comes an electrical hum. In both some powered speaker goes on the fritz. In either case, their are some legitimate complaints about both companies, you would hope they are not building junk, trying to save money cutting cost during production limitations. I hope this makes sense. Best.

Without a doubt, return the Bose and get the B&W. You will not be disappointed.

I bet your neighbors love you very much.......... I bet you are a winner in school........ With your life invested in speakers speaks VOLUMES of you as a very caring good individual. God bless.
When people say that Dual LU43PB speakers are junk, don't listen. Sure Bose and Yamaha speakers sound better (especially indoors), but that's okay because these speakers cost 1/10 the price of those brands. When you live in a place like Wisconsin off the shores of a lake, there's no way one can pay the price for good speakers, so I thought I'd give these a try. A just one day after I received the pair, I ordered 3 more pairs.
