What are the DVD and Blu-Ray Region Codes?

DVD REGION CODES. HELP!?

  • There is a dvd box set that i want to purchase. The problem is the set is only being released under region 4. I live in the US and play my dvds through my PS3 bluray player. The website selling the dvd box set swears that a region 4 dvd will play in my PS3. I can't find any evidence that supports that. Are they correct or are they just trying to make a sale?

    I don't think so, try looking through the set up menus and see if there is the option to change the region codes or if there is a multi region feature. That's true actually what Cheryl M said most things will only give you a limted amount of region code changes so i'd be carefull.

I doubt it. Even if the PS3 can change regions (which I doubt), it can probably only do this change a limited number of times before it locks to a region. This means that you may end up locking yourself out of the US region... which would really really stink.
