What is the difference between ''Size" and "Size on Disk?

Blu ray disk vs computer version size difference?

  • When I get blu ray movies on my computer it's usually around 2 to 4 GB. My friend recently converted a blu ray movie (disk) to his computer - he says that it is about 15 GB. I partially understand that some data will be removed as blah blah blah - asked him about it and got it. Now my questions is, will there be a very big difference between the computer and disk edition of blu ray movies? Is it worth watching the disk version of the lord of the rings extended triology again ( i watched the computer version (bluray of course)). Thanks

  • Answer:

It depends on the rip settings, for size sake its ported down to 720P or SD Resolutions because really who wants to wait for a 15GB file to finish? If its not 1920x1080 Res & if you see ANY pixelation whatsoever, its not a pure BRD Rip of good quality. Also, if its not on a Bluray disk its not bluray. Bluray is just a disc capable of holding an uncompressed 1080P format video. If its on your PC its just an HD movie. For LOTR.... I would go with disc, pop it in the PS3 if u have one or w.e bluray player you have, Grab snacks & turn the volume up looud. (And make puns about taking arrows to the knee whenever you see legolas)

to answer that question you have to ask, is there a difference between BluRay and DVD. if you personally think there is no difference then you will surly be happy with either copy as the differences will be much smaller because its about the difference between BluRay and a BluRay rip.
