Denon's are one of the better amps but you should not overlook Onkyo's range as well. They have some crackers. There are plenty of reviews available if you Google "Onkyo reviews" or Denon.

Ok, you want an audio video 7.1 receiver. Denon is certainly a great maker of such gear, but if you get one of the units that the first answerer listed, you'll be spending about $800. Now, if you do that, do you have a set of speakers that can really match such a receiver ? If not, then you might want to get a less expensive receiver, and plow some money into a nice set of speakers, maybe add a new pair of front to work with the ones that you already have. Amazon.com is a pretty good retailer and supplier of audio gear. Some of whats available on their site comes from authorised third party sellers. For speakers, they have the Polk Audio RM6750 5.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System (Set of Six, Black), $226.08, plus about $35 shipping, with a list price of $599.95. Match those up with a pair of Polk Monitor 50s, $289.94 with free shipping, and that could be a nifty new 7.1 speaker system for $551.02 total outlay. For receivers, they offer a couple of lower cost Onkyo models, the 505 and 575 models, both of which are 7.1 units, and that sell for $189.97 and $231.96, respectively. The 575 has 2 HDMI inputs and one HDMI output. Going to Onkyo's 606 model, you get 4 HDMI inputs and one HMDI output, for a price of $394.75, free US shipping. A similarly priced Denon, the AVR-1908, from Electronics Expo (Via amazon) goes for $369.88, but seems to have only 2 HDMI inputs and no such outputs listed. There are also some speaker deals going with some of the Infinity Beta line that is being replaced in their product lineup, and Vanns and BPAV both have some models at great discounts. I run a set of Beta 50s and 10s and I love them. Whatever you find, enjoy, and get a good deal, and good gear that suits your needs, without having to overpay. Enjoy.

You should buy the one that decodes some new HD sound formats,it means you just need an HDMI 1.3a to connect to receiver to get both audio and video. If you have around $800, you can buy Denon AVR- 2808 CI or Denon AVR- 988, with $500 you get Yamaha 663 or Onkyo 606, with $400 you get Onkyo 605 or Sony 820 and more coming out in August from Denon, Pioneer.....

While Denon make some fine kit, the real winners for price and quality are the Onkyo range. For decoding HD sound go for the 606 or any model above ie.. 706 and 875/876. you will not be dissapointed.
