Game Console and Home Theater?

Can u connect a cable box or video game console into a home theater system?

  • i need to know because i want to know if i should buy one or not

  • Answer:

Just take note that a Home Theater System usually is just dedicated to movies, and MAY have 1 input option. If you want to connect various thing to it, like your cable box and video game console, you will need a receiver (sometimes you'll see them as Home Theater Receiver). Home Theater System - usually just one component. If you see that it comes with a separate DVD player, then the Home Theater System consists of a receiver and a dvd player. You should still check to see that you have the right Inputs/Outputs that you need.

"if only some systems have it then how do i figure out if the can or not" Look at the inputs on any system you buy. You need at least 3 spare optical or coaxial-digital inputs. This is because you will want to handle: - Game system with optical output - HDTV Cable or Sat box with optical output - BluRay system with optical out - TV with optical out (Some TV's have this) In general - most craptastic $300 'systems' do 1 thing: play standard def DVD's on the built-in player. This hardly qualifies them as a 'system'. You would be better off buying a used 5.1 system from someone on CraigsList for the same money.
