How do I convert a single rca cable to speaker wire to connect my receiver to my sub?
-
I have a Sony STE-DE835 receiver that I want to hook up a non powered Samsung subwoofer to. My problem is that the receiver uses a single rca cable for the subwoofer audio output and the sub uses standard speaker wire connections (red and black push clamps). Is there a way to convert the rca cable or convert speaker wire to the rca jack? Or is this not a good idea? What are my options? Thanks

Answer:
The RCA out on the receiver is not powered, it is designed to be used with a powered sub...so you would need an external sub-woofer amp to power your sub, so cables alone will not do the trick,,if you get an amp it will have RCA in and speaker wire out...
