Why won't my blu-ray player turn on?

My blu ray player won't turn off or open or anything does anyone know why?

Tonight we got this Netflix movie "The Smurfs" We watched it with no problem then we played the game's that were on it. I never played a dvd game on my blu- ray before I thought it would be fun for my 4 year old so I decided to check it out. After about 20 mins into the game the picture went but you could here it. Then I started hitting buttons on the blu-ray remote and I think it went to the dvd menu. Now there is no sound no picture I tried to open the player first with remote then the open button on the actual player nothing happened so I tried to turn it off and it won't turn off. Could this be a result of the game? Does anyone know what's wrong with it and how I can fix it or at least get it to open so I can return the movie?
Answer:

I had a similar problem so I unplugged it and plugged it back in and that fixed it. You might want to check and make sure your firmware is up to date.
