Why is my VGA component not working?

How can i make my vga to component converter work?

  • I wanted to connect my laptop computer to my 20 inch flat-screen tv to have a second monitor. So i got a vga to component converter and somme component cables. I hooked everything up and it didn't work the tv just said (no signal). So then i tried using one of my old junky windows XP computers and it sort of worked but the picture quality was extreamly bad. but its not working at all with my better windows 7 computer. is their anything i can do to make it work?

  • Answer:

My first guess is that your laptop is putting out too high a resolution for the converter or maybe the TV. What you need to do is go into your display settings and select a lower resolution - maybe 1024 x 768. This will make your laptop display look a bit funny but maybe the TV will display it.
