Is my TV blurry because of my PlayStation 3?

Do I have to have a Hi-Def TV to play Hi-Def DVDs and games through Playstation 3 and other Hi-Def Devices?

  • I am looking into getting a new Xbox and PS3 and the big feature of most of them is that everything is Hi-Def now. Playstation 3 can play Blu-Ray hi-def discs which a lot of movies are coming out on now and I was wondering if I had to have a hi-def TV to take advantage of that content? Is a Hi-def TV necessary or just an added bonus?

    you don't necessarily have to have a hi-def tv to take advantage of this feature. These consoles should come with component cables, and can be down ressed to 480p to make SD come over your tv... then if you upgrade it, just change the res to HD at a later time.

No its not a must but you will not get a better picture than standard DVD on you TV. You will never get HD on you standard TV no matter what you are feeding it. Instead of spending the Extra money on Bluray DVDs. They do cost more. Save for that HDTV, Some very nice ones can be had for around 500.(CRT). And they are coming down in price for the holidays.

yes you do 1080i is true HD that you can only get with a HDTV. but you can get 480i with a tub tv with HD RCA's. i have a XBOX 360 and a 42" plasma TV and it is better thin my friends XBOX 360 and a 32" flat tub tv with HD RCA's. and my blueray player only works on a HDTV. AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET HD PIC IS WITH A HDTV IF ANY ONE SAYS DIFFERENT IT IS BECAUSE THE DON'T HAVE ONE OR NEVER USED ONE
