How To Play Asf Files?

Are there any DVD players that will play .asf movie files that have been burned onto a CD-ROM?

  • These are legally-obtained video-files, and the download format is .asf. I would like to burn these files onto a CD-ROM. I know that some DVD players play a wide-variety of formats. If anyone knows of a DVD player that will play .asf files, I would appreciate it. Or... if there is an easy work-around, I would appreciate that input from you as well. Thanks!

  • Answer:

Most DVD players play DivX, asf can be a DivX also, but mostly its looking for avi extension. Its easy to convert it to anything that is playing.

.asf files are quite similar to .wmv files. They can be burned as is onto a cd or dvd and any dvd player should be able to read them and play them, but that would be as if they were still files on your hard drive - you click the file and your media player comes up and plays it. To make a cd or dvd that is like the dvd's you buy or rent of movies and which play like that, you have to convert the file into vcd/svcd or into some dvd format. Some burner programs allow for this, check yours out....
