Converting a video document to a format appropriate for a home dvd player?

  • I seem to be having a problem with some video documents there in an mp4 format and my dvd player doesnt play that is there a way i could reformat them to i think it was a vcd format, or some other compatible format

As far as I know, DVD format is VOB. You can use DVD Flick to convert and burn video to DVD to play on home DVD player.

DVD players can only read the codec MPEG-2 and MPEG-1. MPEG-2 is a later codec and has better quality than MPEG-1. VOB files are the container of this MPEG-2 codec. So there are several ways of burning your video to DVD and make it work. You could just try DVD burning software that will do it for you. This is the least hassle. Others already gave options, but you could also search on the internet for (free) DVD burners. This software will most time convert your video for you into MPEG-2 and will set everything. So the only thing for you to do is to import the file and press burn. Another, more difficult, way is to convert your video in the appropiate file yourself. You'll need a converter for this. Others here have already advised some converters. You could also search for (free) video converters yourself. But the converter must be able to convert .mp4 to MPEG-2. You can just burn the new MPEG-2 file onto a DVD. You can use windows built in burning option for that or use software of your choice.
