Where To Buy Okaply Ceiling Panels?

Need a solution for vibrating ceiling and walls!?

  • Hello, i am 15 years old and i just remodeled my whole basement and just finished my home theater. You may be thinking i am full of sh*t, but i love construction work and enjoyed the challenge. Now my only problem is my sub is very loud and vibrates the walls and ceilings, and you can here those loud scenes upstairs. My mom is getting a little annoyed and i need some kind of solution. Should i get acoustic panels and put them on the ceiling(already have a couple on walls) or buy bass traps.(Difference?) My room is small, 12x15 ft and i just need to make the room a little more "soundproofed." I heard you should place the bass traps in the corners, is this correct? Thank you

  • Answer:

Bass Traps can be relatively expensive, especially for a fifteen year old. Since you seem to be interested in acoustics, have you toyed with the location of your sub? If it's in a spot that creates "stagnant" frequencies, it could be the reason for the rumbling. There's alot that goes into sound, but start with the placement of your sub, especially distance from the wall. That tends to create alot of problems, and by putting it another 6 inches from the wall can make a world of a difference. If it doesn't, then I would begin looking into acoustical foam and the likes. Read up on some professional audio forums, and they'll be able to direct you in the right direction for your application.
