What's the best way to connect a home theater system?

What's a good Blu-Ray Home Theater System that I can easily connect to my laptop?

  • Hi all! I want a home theater system that I can play my blu-rays on AND play music from my laptop wirelessly (something like Bose Soundlink). I want to be able to mount my flat screen on the wall above my fireplace and really want to have as few wires as possible running around. I don't care how many speakers the system comes with. I really want to be able to play the music from my laptop through the home theater speakers, as well. I like the ease of use of the Bose Sound-link system. If I could find something similar in a home theater system - I would be very happy! I was originally looking at the Sony Bravio systems (TV and home theater) because I liked the options the Bravia sync and S-Air wireless speakers gave me. However, Sony's digital media port adaptor that's supposed to stream music from your pc got TERRIBLE reviews and thats a deal-breaker for me. Any advice would be appreciated. I don't really have a budget- I guess I'm up for anything within reason! Thanks

Well... If you are looking for something like the Bose Soundlink... the soundlink is ok - but it is then it limits you to Bose products... like the Soundlink music system or the Wave music system - which will run you over about $600. But budget is no concern... so it may be ok - but also remember, both Soundlink and Wave music systems are single unit - 2 speaker in one enclosure systems - which you'll get poor sound staging, poor stereo effect cuz the sound comes from one spot. A better solution: go to www.audioengineusa.com --- for $99, you can get the AudioEngine W1 - which is a wireless adapter - that adapts 1/8" rca cable into wireless - and they say you will get CD quality sound from them without loss in audio quality. Then - now you can get any speaker system that uses 1/8" rca cable - in which case, options are virtually limitless. IMO - if you do not want too many cables, go for a good 2.0 speaker system [which does not have a subwoofer]. One suggestion is to go for the AudioEngine A2 - same sight audioeningeusa.com --- they are tiny speakers with big sound! --- the face is about 4"x6" -postcard size. They respond to about 65hz so they definitely pack some low freq - bass, for their size... nothing comes close to them especially at $200 - they are a steal! If you do not mind larger speakers and a little more expensive but have bigger louder sound+more bass, look at the AudioEngine A5. A2's are avail in white or black... the A5's are avail in white, black and bamboo --- LOL I sound like a salesperson, but I assure you, I'm not... I'm just an audio enthusiast. Of course, you can get any powered speakers... but I've done alot of research, own 1 Bose product-tried and returned their others, own Klipsch, Yamaha products+Diy projects...and 1 Audioeninge product... I'd say Audioengine is amongst the best for quality sound reproduction, with awesome form and function, at "steal" prices... check them out! and enjoy!
