How are DVD's and CD's made?

How compatible are Super Video CDs (SVCDs) with modern DVD players?

  • I would like to distribute several small videos on Super Video CD to save money on DVDs, and also because these videos are only ten minutes long altogether. How compatible are Super Video CDs with DVD players made after 2003 or 2004? I tried regular VCDs, which have an excellent compatibility rate, however the quality was terrible.

  • Answer:

I think most DVD players after 2003/2004 will support SVCD just fine. It'll depend on the individual model however... If a DVD player has problems with the disc, PCs can generally play SVCDs just fine. I personally use VLC to play DVDs, VCDs, SVCDs and other video files on my PC. It's free and much better than Microsoft's Media Player.

Other answers

I recommend going towards DVD, because they have much higher quality. Plus, if you come accross someone who has a DVD older than that, you'll have to burn that person a copy in DVD anyways. But, Roxio, you can set the compression so that you'lll have better quality because you have a short video. Just a suggestion
