Is there any type of tv cable splitter?

Both my cable TV DVR and DVD Player have component cables, how do I connect them both to my HD TV?

  • Both my cable TV DVR and my DVD Player have component cable outputs. I want to connect them to my HD-TV but there is only 1 set of imputs on my TV. I can't connect them both, but I want to. Do I need some type of special box or a splitter or something so I can get them both connected to the TV? I tried routing one through the other (DVR to DVD player and vice versa) but it's impossible. Please help!

  • Answer:

Best way is to purchase an av receiver that has video switching. They will have multiple component inputs and a component output. You will send all your audio and video to your receiver, then you will have one or two video cables from your receiver to your TV. It makes a cleaner setup. These AV receivers are inexpensive. You can find one for about $200-$300. Plus, you will get better sound and surround sound as well. Go to your local Best Buy, Circuit City or Fry's and the salesperson will show you.

You can get a switcher for component video. I found this one http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/40-814.html but you may also need to switch the audio as well. Google "component video switch".
