How to connect my sound system into TV?

How would I connect my Macbook Pro to Vizio Tv to Samsung Sound System?

  • Hello, I recently acquired a 5.1 Samsung surround sound system. I would like to set it up so all the audio from both the tv and macbook plays through the sound system. I was wondering if someone might be able to help me figure out which cables I would need or if this is even possible. Ideally I'd like to connect my laptop to the tv for light gaming and movie watching, but still use the 5.1 surround sound. I'll post technical specs below and thanks for the help! • Answer:

this is an easy situation ok hook up the surround sound set together make sure the cords for it are in the right area then plug in the red and white audio cables from the surround into the ports on the tv marked audio out , that will make all audio from anything hooked up to the tv be in surround , xbox , blu ray player etc . However Pc's wont work like that youll need to buy a seperate cord for it and theres 2 that will work it depends on what kind your tv supports you may need a pc audio jack that is like ipod headphones end that you plug in to it . The pc audio jack is like that on both sides though or you may need a red and white cord thats red and white and both sides it depends check the back of your tv to see if its possible .
