• okay so im trying to make a media center by basically connecting everything i have spread around the house. i have a very large stereo with a seperate subwoofer and several aux inputs, a ps3, a big 1080p hd tv, a laptop with hdmi and s-video output, a desktop computer, and an extra computer monitor, and im trying to figure out a way to connect them to make my "perfect media center" and i need advice on how to do so. i am goin to wanna play videos from my laptop and ps3 games on the tv. and i will want all three to play out of the stereo. thanks for any help- d

  OK my dad also has a lot of stuff on our 7.1 surround sound theatre, and our ps3, with a 58 inch plasma tv and he is an engineer and he taught me everything you need: 1. MOST IMPORTANTLY, you are going to need a thing called a reciever, now with your requirements, which were similar to ours, you unfortunately are going to have to buy a higher end one, we bought a DENON reciever, this fits all of our needs and should fit yours to it supports the HDMI for the laptop, 1080p for the ps3 and the 7.1 surround sound for the ps3 it also has fancy features called "zones" which can connect to the other speakers in your house. (ex. we have stuff in the kitchen, patio and porch), when you find one just ask a store employee about all the features, i am not going to lie it did get a little complicated so be patient. 2. In order to display the HD video in 1080p and 7.1 surround sound from the ps3 you are going to need HDMI cables, these retail for about $50 a cable, depending on the length Well this it the DENON a/v amp and cables should set you up, connect everything, cable/satelite, ps3, laptop (when you want to connect it to the tv) to the amp, and then have one HDMI cable feeding directly from the unit to the tv, all the speakers can be put on the back of the DENON too. This is a difficult process so i do recomend some help from friends, or see if the store can get specialists to your place to help you, but i promise you, the reward we see is great. ....................BTW the PS3 will display blu ray 1080p BEAutifully
