Philips indoor antenna, how to install?

Can I install a stick antenna in a hallway that would be within LOS (the antenna towers are about 17 mi. away)?

I have serious multipath reception interference from traffic going by my house at all hours. No possibility of putting up an outdoor directional antenna and there is no attic space (I live in a flat-roofed house). I was wondering if I could install a stick antenna in the hallway that does face toward the tv towers. Any opinions on which brand? Or maybe an omni-directional type? I'm not sure an amplified antenna would serve in this situation and I really don't want to have yet another power drain on my electric bill. Thanks.
