Why does the sound on my tv have static when watching DVD's?

My surround sound speakers dont work when on the tv?

  • I recently bought a home theatre system, sony Dav-tz 135 to connect to my sony bravia. Everything on it works fine, I get excellent sound playing dvds, cds, mp3s and the radio except when the tv is on watching just normal tv there is no sound at all. Does anyone know how to get the surround sound working for the tv and not just for dvds,cds and radio.. ?? Thanks!

I checked the manual and it looks like the DAV-TZ 135 connection of HDMI is a one direction like almost all of them as Video and audio out only. There is an audio input for the DAV-TZ 135, and if the Bravia has a matching output on the audio for a cable pair, that is the way to do it. You need audio out from the TV into the audio in of the DAV-TZ 135 If you listed the Bravia model, might be able to check on its audio outputs. TV's audio outputs vary about their formats.

Those home theater in a box are not flexible for adding anything to them or for upgrading. They are mainly designed for you to watch a movie with surround sound. Your tv only has an optical audio output, which is a digital signal that has to be connected to a receiver, home theater in a box with an optical audio input or a sound bar. Without an optical audio input, you would not be able to connect the tv to your system. Also keep in mind that not all tv programs have the surround sound. only those program with the Dolby Digital Logo will have surround sound. Hope this will help you out.

there are two ways to do this, audio out from cable or sat box to audio in on SS, or audio out from tv to audio in on SS. you also have to go into audio setting to select your audio out.
