What are the best speakers for TV?

What do I need for speakers for my tv?

What speakers are compatible with my tv and what specifications do I look for with tvs. I am totally in the dark with this stuff. I know I dont want anything big.

  Honestly, with that tv if I was adding anything I would go the route of a home theater system, especially since it's 1080p. You really don't need to spend a ton on this....but bose speakers are nice. I have a bose system and it rocks, the speakers are tiny, they take up hardly any room yet deliver that big speaker sound. Equally, and almost more, important is the receiver you choose. The speakers you decide to purchase are nothing unless your receiver is capable of pushing them. Average speakers with a good receiver will sound a ton better then great speakers with a poor receiver. You may want to spend a little more on this though...your average run of the mill receivers may say 100 watts/channel, but that isn't continuous wattage and the boards that are used in the cheaper receivers are pretty much the same across the board. Your upper line Harmon Kardon/Denon/Okyono are the way to go for the receivers. Pioneer/Kenwood/Sony, etc receivers are good but make sure you're not buying the entry level versions. So, if it were me, I would shop around for a good theater system (on the net)....you can get one for under 300 bucks easy. Check prices for either new or refurbished middle to upper line receivers.....you'll be spending anywhere from 200 to 500+ here. Call it done and you'll be having friends wanting to come over every night...
