What is the best wire management system for running A/V component cables and speaker wire? A/V installers help
-
I am running HDMI cable from A/V cabinet to TV and speaker wire to 7 speakers from A/V cabinet. I want the most professional look I can get DIY without going into walls or under carpet. I found one set of Phillips wire tubing but it was only 1/2 inch and not big enough for HDMI cables to run through? What cost effective wire management systems are available to pull this off without too much hard work. Please give me brand or product names and/or links/websites/stores so I can get my hands on recommended system. Thanks alot

As I was reading your question. I came up with answera. Every time I came up with one you shot them down with your restriction. Try buying Flat Cable. See link... http://www.flatwiretv.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=FW&Category_Code=AFW You can use this to run speaker wire under the carpet and not leave a bump in the rug. (sorry but I had to go there) OK that wount work. Wireless surround. http://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-RFU-6100-Wireless-Surround-Speakers/dp/B000278KJE I never used the but it is out there for you to try. Wire Loom http://cableorganizer.com/wire-loom/?engine=google&&s_kwcid=wire%20loom%7C523342695&gclid=CLiYj9Hy848CFR-YWAodEQSKMw You have to use this. Now it's up to you.

Wiremold and Wiretrack are two brands. See the link. They are also available at Home Depot. If you have white baseboard or walls they are a good easy to install "turnkey" solution (I used in my HT and they pretty much "disappear"). If not you will have to paint them. Just don't underestimate how much space you need ... i.e. don't undersize.

Layout your rack like this: - Put the receiver on the bottom shelf. This allows the speaker wires to flow out w/o a big drop or running near the interconnects. - Put box's above the receiver that you NEVER touch like CATV and SAT box's. - Put the box's you interact with (DVD, Game systems) on the higher shelves. - Look on the back of the rack. Decide which side the power cords come out and install a power strip. Wire up all the AC power cords. Label both ends with a simple "A", "B", "C" label scheme. Wire labels can be bought from Radio Shack - Loosely let the interconnects flow down the back of the rack. You may not even need to bundle them, but if you want, use velcro strips from CaseLogic or even a fabric store to tack them together. This will actually look really good and organized. You can buy wire loom from the above places for speaker wire - but try to keep power wires (AC and speaker wires) away from the interconnects. Note: One guy did not like seeing the wires run from behind his rack to the TV so he just took a big sheet of poster board and layed it in front. Since the white matched the wall - nobody could tell it was there.
