  • Answer:

This is a common issue with those home theater in a box. It only allow you to connect it to the tv to watch a movie with the built in dvd or blu ray with surround sound. An HDMI output (video and audio) and the a composite output (yellow for the video and the red and white for the left and right audio). You do not have any inputs on your surround sound system to add anything. Meaning you can not connect your PS3 or other item to it to hear the sound. Your tv has a HDMI input along with the component video input (Red, Green and Blue) and the audio is the red and white for the left and right audio. HDMI should work, you might have to select the input source on your tv to HDMI or the component to make it work. You can connect your PS3 directly to the tv using the component cable and the optical audio cable. Most tv has an optical audio port, and that should also have an optical audio output. If would have help if you mention the tv model and brand along with the surround system you have. Hope this will help you out.

You don't. VGA (RGB) is video only, doesn't carry sound. Throw away that box o' crap.
