How do I playback my voice through my speakers?

Dual voice coil wiring question - home/outdoor speakers 6 1/2 inch?

  • I am installing in ceiling outdoor speakers for my covered patio. I had originally wanted two 6 ½ inch single voice coil speakers. My wife bought me the receiver I wanted, a Sony STR-DH100(100x2, @ 8 ohms) http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665788574#reviews Instead of the single voice coil speakers, she bought me 2 dual voice coil speakers http://www.outdoorspeakerdepot.com/weather-resistant-in-ceiling-speakers.html I guess I have the following options 1. Run both speakers and use only one voice coil per speaker 2. Run both speakers, then wire the voice coils in series 3. Run both speakers, then wire the voice coils parallel What would be my best option for sound quality and average volume? I am not looking for huge volume outside but a good sound. The covered patio is about 20 feet x 20

  • Answer:

The purpose of the dual (stereo) voice coils is so that you can run BOTH right and left channels to each speaker. With your receiver that should be no problem. Just run two cables to each speaker (4 conductors). Wire the A outputs to one speaker and the B outputs to the other - that receiver has 4 speaker connections. Should work fine. If you don't want to do that just wire them as your option #1.
