Are there any portable blu ray players?

Blu ray players vs Laptops with Blu ray drives?

• I'm curious as to which is the better of the two here. I have a Sharp 32inch LCD HDTV and a HP Pavilion DV9858ca with HDMI output and a Blu Ray disc drive. I am capable of running my laptop on my HDTV in 1080i by HDMI, and playing blu rays. The image is great. Is my laptop doing as good of a job as a blu ray player would be doing? Would I have better quality with just a blu ray player and if so would it even really be noticeable? Thank you for your time!

  generallyno difference at all. The bottom line is that both blueray and laptop both are capable of outputting 1080... it being a digital connection via HDMI means exactly same in the sense that digital is all "1" and "0". a 1 and a 0 are same no matter what system puts it out VS the red/yellow/white composite connection and the red/green/blue component connection. those are only analog. analog use electric currents to display your picture, and there you could have a difference in picture... maybe one will more true then another in how each item outputs the picture, the color levels, etc... .... Laptops however can not out put Audio via HDMI (for the most part atleast). while a seperate dvdplayer will...
