How do I use my Sony Vaio laptop as a monitor for a BluRay player?
-
I have a Toshiba BluRay player, that needs an HDMI connection to work, but I don't have a monitor or TV screen that has an HDMI port. Is it possible to use the HDMI port on my laptop to use the laptop's screen as a monitor? I don't care if it has low resolution or whatever, I need to see if the BluRay player works, because I bought it used and if I find out it's broken within a week, I can return it. So, obviously I can't buy a monitor for it now.

Answer:
It is not possible. HDMI ports are either "out" or "in" even though they all look the same. Your Sony laptop will not accept an external connection from a Blu-ray player.

No, you can't. The HDMI port on your laptop is an output.
