Where do i get a dvd decoder?

How do i get the dvd decoder back on my computer?

  • i think i might have accidentally erased my dvd decoder a long time ago and now my computer wont play dvds i know i need it. how do i get it back or get something to play the dvds and i dont wanna pay. or is there someplace where i can put my dvd in the comp. and itll play?

  • Answer:

VLC is decent, but i've noticed it has a hard time rendering some files and can play them back choppy, especially if you have a slow computer. K-Lite Codec is a great codec pack that plays much smoother and works with just about every file.

probably the absolutely easiest solution is to get VLC media player, and use it to play the DVDs. Just get it from videolan.org and open the DVDs in it. Otherwise there are a lot of decoders for DVDs that work with Windows Media Player etc. FFDShow for example is free, just search for it on google and freecodecs page comes up and get it there. Also, WinDVD and PowerDVD comes with decoders, although both cost money I think.
