Which is better: ATT U-Verse or Cable?

How do I program a universal remote to my AT&T Uverse cable box? What is the correct code?

  • I have a Mitaki-Japan Jumbo TV Remote Control and am trying to program it to my AT&T Uverse cable box. The cable box is an AT&T Scientific Atlanta by Cisco box. I understand how to program things as I have programed my TV correctly. It seems as if the codes I am entering aren't correct for the cable box. I have tried 751, 155, 248, 251, 261, 351, 362, 451, 463 among many others. None seem to work. If you have experience programming a non-AT&T universal remote for use with your AT&T Uverse box, please provide me with the proper code.

  • Answer:

Although anything is possible, I would be surprised to find a non-AT&T remote that would work all of the functions of the U-Verse receiver or DVR. For example, it would need to have GUIDE, ON DEMAND, RECORDED TV, and GO INTERACTIVE buttons. The usual process is to program the U-Verse remote to work your TV, DVD player, etc. There should be no reason nor advantage for using a universal remote.

Other answers

The proper code is in the code list for that particular remote, if there is a correct code for your particuar box. That said, that remote is a rather generic low end remote, and being the Uverse box uses a rather sophisticated protocol, there is little chance that remote supports that box.
