Is there any way to get out of a dish network contract?

Can I sublease my dish network account?

  • I'm in college and have a contract with dish network for two years. It's been a year and I'm moving back home with my parents..and they already have cable. You see my problem :) lol. Is there any way to sublease my account or get away with canceling for a smaller fee. Thanks!

  • Answer:

If I understand correctly... You lease an apartment. You pay for monthly Dish network on a contract. You want to sublease the apartment. Ask the apartment landlord. If you want to sublease the Dish contract by moving the cable to a different apartment, no, impossible. The Dish company can only have a legal contract with you at your address. The new user could branch the connection to other apartments and how could Dish control that? All his neighbors would be knocking on his door and asking to pay five bucks for their share of the home-made network. Absurd. "canceling for a smaller fee" -- ask Dish. Not likely. Why would they ask you to sign a long-term contract if they didn't expect you to fulfill it?
