How to Record from DVR To VHS?

Can I record a show or transfer 1 thats in my DVR to a VHS?or DVD?

  • Answer:

All that's necessary is for your DVR to have a place to plug in output cables. You run the output cables (usually component cables -- the red, white, and yellow ones) to the input of a VCR or DVD recorder. Make sure you set the input on the VCR or DVD recorder so that it will record from the input you used for the DVR). Then you hit the record button on the VCR or DVD recorder as you start playing the program from the DVR. That's it!

That really depends on the DVR. That's need to know info for a question like this. I'm into DVRs, and there's a pretty cool DVR focused/hacking type site that has a lot of smart people involved. Lots of good info. It may be a great place to start, just be sure to know what kind of DVR you have. The site is called: http://www.dvrplayground.com

Yes there should be an option in the menu of the DVR that would allow you to copy the show on external device, like DVD burner, VCR or even computer. However most HDPVRs will downscale the HDTV content to SD resolution (720x480) which is the DVD format. HDTV transfer occurs best on PVRs that have the firewire/Sony iLink/IEEE1394 port activated.
