Is there a DVD recorder with HDMI in and out?

I'm looking for a DVD recorder with HDMI upscaling. I have a 1080i tv but does the recorder need be 1080i?

  • I see that the majority of DVD recorders have HDMI upscaling of 1080p. Does anybody know if p and i would be interchangeable or do I need a 1080i dvd recorder?

you can go with the 1080p if you want. It will just be displayed as 1080i on your tv. Might as well go with 1080i since it will probably be cheaper.

Most devices show the resolution they can display up to. If you go into the options, they let you choose what res you need, 720p, 1080i, 1080p.
