Can be erase to recordable cd?

Problems recording and playing back recordable CD's?

  • Have been transferring audio tapes to CD using CD recorder. All recorded CD's will play fine on the recorder but not all on my CD system. The ones that work on both are CD-R 80 700 MB the ones that don't are 52X maximum speed 700. Are the latter only for playback on Pc's - thought that all discs were compatible with all systems. Is the absence of R on those discs siginificant even though it says that they are recordable? Thanks.

    Your CD's playing fine on your computer but not on you CD player would leave me be believe that the format you are recording in is not supported by you CD player. Try to record to your computer and not on the fly straight to disc. Then when it comes to burning to disc the software you are useing set to Audio CD and not Data/MP3. If this is not possible with you current software use windows media player or itunes for your burning as they support making Audio CD's and MP3/Data disc's. Ps you will find your Disc's are use/Record once. The Burn speed gives it away.

The absence of the R is significant. CDs are recordable if they carry the suffix R, RW. Without these indications you cannot guarantee that they will be recordable on a conventional burner or playable in a conventional CD player. The brand of the disc also matters. Some very cheap ones will not work well on anything other than the drive that burns them. This is even more noticeable with DVDs.

A lot of CD players just won't play CD-Rs - simple as that. A pre-recorded CD must play in any player, anywhere in the world. Recordable discs don't have to and often won't.
